Skin Care for Dry Winter Skin- Guerlain- Secret De Purete Cleansing Foaming Cream and Abeille Royale Preparing Toner

 I’ve never suffered from dry skin ever in my life! Actually, I am fortunate and haven’t had any skin issues besides an occasional pimple here and there. Since moving to the freezing Mid-West I have noticed in the winter my skin becomes dry. This last year I have developed a weird sensitivity, out of nowhere when using new products, my face will become extremely itchy and red. This happened with a new contour palette, several face washes, another toner, and even a concealer that I have used just in the last 6 months! I’m not sure if this is what it’s like getting older but I’ve found myself nervous at times to use new products on my face. I have been on the hunt to find a great cleanser and toner to help beat this dry winter skin and think I have found my gems! That is what I want to share with you today!

The two products I have been using nonstop for my face routine are Guerlain Secret De Purete Cleansing Foaming Cream and Guerlain Abeille Royale Preparing Toner. Let’s hear my thoughts!

 Guerlain Secret De Purete Cleansing Foaming Cream ( Smoothes & Illuminates )

I have been using this twice daily, for over a week. After each use I like this product more and more. I want to start off by saying that when I wash my face with this I have already removed all of my eye makeup with my Clinique eye makeup remover. I do however have all of my face makeup still left on my skin.

The foaming cream comes in a luxurious white bottle with gold accents. I really like how easy the packaging is to use, you just press the pump and out comes the foam. Once the foam comes out it has quite a strong scent. I find the scent refreshing and pretty, so it doesn’t bother me, but if you are someone who doesn’t love a perfume smell to your facial wash this might be a bit “heavy” for you.

The texture of the foam is very soft and quickly turns into a rich, creamy foam lather. You can mix it with water or put it on your face dry, either way works.  I find one pump is enough for my face and I add in another pump for my neck area. The foam cream immediately washed away all of my old face make up and dirt and it rinses off so easily! When I have a lot of makeup on, I will put the foam on my face dry. This way feels like it is working harder and really getting rid of any dirt and old makeup on my face. In the mornings, I use this in the shower when my face is wet and works just as good. This is just more of your personal preference.

After using Guerlain Secret De Purete Cleansing Foaming Cream, my skin feels so smooth and clean! It does not dry out my skin and that was my main goal. My face has felt so hydrated and luminous. I do not have any dry patches on my skin at all! The foam is gentle on my skin, light weight, and not harsh at all. It literally feels like a cream with foaming bubbles.

Guerlain Abeille Royale Preparing Toner

Ohh mii goodness! Let’s stop for a minute!! Abeille ROYALE Preparing Toner!! Do you see my middle name?! Ok, so I instantly fell in love with this and felt it was made for me because, well hello, it has my name on it! I barley ever see anything with my name on it! Although, I did just have a “Royale” sandwich which I totally hated! So I guess just because it has my name in it doesn’t mean I will end up loving it….but with this toner I totally do love it!

Since I can remember starting my face wash routine when I was in middle school, my mom always bought me toner. I used it but never really understood why I had to use it. Did you know toner's function is to complete the cleansing of your skin?! It helps remove any leftover dust, pollution, or yucky impurities that can still be on your skin after washing with a face wash.

With that being said, it is important to use a toner. I have used the same old Clean and Clear toner for YEARS and I like it. There is nothing wrong with it, it’s a great price, and makes my skin feel fresh. I can pick it up anywhere and it’s a no brainer. Now after using this though, I am really questioning myself on what other toners have I missed out on! Whoa Guerlain Abeille Royale Preparing Toner is just in a whole other ball park!

The bottle is exactly the same as the foaming Cream and also has the same type of pump to disperse the product. What I really fancy about this toner is how it is nothing like your typical clear watery looking toner. It feels a bit thicker and creamy and it also has a slight white tint to it. Again, this toner does have a perfume scent to it but it is very faint and quickly disappears.

It is said this toner doesn’t just help complete cleansing your skin but it also helps with firming your skin and wrinkle correction as well. I apply this after every face wash and only need a full squirt for my entire face and neck area. When I first used this toner, I used a cotton ball to apply it but the product got soaked up to quickly so I tried a cotton pad. I didn’t really like it and felt like I wasn’t getting the full effect I should be. Since it is thicker and creamer then the toner I was recently using I wanted to actually feel that creaminess on my skin. The next time I used the toner and every time after I just squirt the product from the pump on my clean hands and rub it all over my face and neck. I let it absorb into my skin.  This happens quickly and it leaves no filmy residue at all.

My skin feels so hydrated right away! Not 5 minutes, 2 minutes, or even 22 seconds later! RIGHT away! This is what shocks me! My skin looks so fresh, feels soft, and extremely clean! I haven’t noticed any difference in my wrinkles but it has only been a little over a week.

Before I would just use my toner because that is what I was taught to do, with Guerlain Abeille Royale Preparing Toner I can actually feel a difference in my skin and how rejuvenated it is!  I totally recommend that you make this toner an essential part of your daily face routine, the benefits can be felt and seen instantly!

I have not experienced any type of redness or drying since using these products on my semi sensitive skin. I don’t think either product would fight against acne. If that is what you’re looking for this would not be for you.

My skin feels so much more hydrated since adding this to my routine! These two products have really helped with my winter dry skin and I am so happy I came across them!

New PUR Hydra Fluid Water Serum Foundation- Review and swatch

It is undeniable that I am a foundation junkie! Out of all of my makeup I go through, my eyebrow pencils and foundation are used the most! I love a good foundation that gives you that perfect base and makes you look flawless! When I received the entire line of the BRAND NEW Pur Hydra Fluid Water Serum Foundation I could barely contain myself opening the box!

Told you I was a foundation junkie!!

There are 5 colors in the line; they are Light, Medium, Tan, Dark, and Deep. Right now I am extremely pale since it is winter but happy I will have the darker shades for summer, and to mix to make my perfect shade. The name says it all with this foundation, it’s extremely hydrating! As it should be, it is made with water from the Swiss Alps.  Some key ingredients are- encapsulated water complex, Ceretin Complex, and vitamin E.

I have been using this foundation for about a week and I am amazed by the Hydra Fluid Water Serum Foundation! It has been leaving my skin feeling so hydrated, healthy, and luminous! I do not like looking greasy and I was nervous when I first felt the texture of this because of how it felt “watery”

I thought it was going to be very thin and extremely light coverage. I was pleasantly surprised by how well it blends into my skin while covering all of my imperfections! I was not expecting it to cover so well! I would say this is medium coverage and buildable. What I enjoy about it is how it doesn’t feel like you are wearing anything! I felt like I had no makeup on but with silky smooth, dewy pretty skin!

For application I read- “Apply 2 to 3 drops of foundation to the face with the Liquid Chisel Brush. Buff into skin in a circular motion. Layer for additional coverage.”  I do not own the Liquid Chisel Brush so I just applied it like my regular foundation; I put a few drops on each side of my face, chin, and forehead and used my stippling brush, and lightly went over it with my beauty blender to blend it all out. I have tried this foundation with one and two layers. For an everyday look I would recommend one layer.  I personally like a fuller coverage look, so two layers is perfect for me!

The foundation does not crease, but it does get a little oily on my T Zone, if you have been reading my blogs you know this is an issue with my skin all the time! Setting powder helps with this and makes the foundation last even longer!  I did not experience any type of patches or separating throughout the day. I usually go for a matte foundation and this is not matte at all, you can achieve a more matte look with powder. The formula is thin and a little goes a long way! Believe me when I say this, just a few drops of this and your face will be completely covered. The applicator is nice and disperses out just the right amount of product. A huge benefit of this foundation is that it helps smooth, firm, and lift your skins appearance and provides antioxidant benefits!

This has been perfect for my dry winter skin by giving me the extra needed hydration.  I can see this also working nicely in the summer since it is so lightweight and you won’t feel like you are sweating it all off.  

I would recommend this foundation to anyone, I think it would suit all skin types and if you can’t find an exact match, you can always try mixing a couple together. Although it seems to just melt into your skin and match myself perfectly. When I swatched it I thought the color might be too dark for me, but it worked out perfectly!

Before I leave the house I always make sure to spray on one of my perfumes. It is the final touch of getting ready. It’s fun to have a different scent every day and there are so many amazing perfumes and today I am here to share with you my favorite girly ones! I took into consideration not just the smell of the perfume, but also the bottle. I love displaying my bottles of perfume on my vanity but besides a perfume bottle looking cute; it needs to smell good as well! I adore wearing a scent that just makes me feel girly and I know will smell good all day long! I choose my best girly perfumes- Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy” Noir”, YSL “Black Opium” and Juicy Couture “Couture La La”, just by looking at the bottles you can automatically tell why! The Juicy Couture bottles have great big bows on them and the YSL bottle looks like there are little specs of glitter in it! Ahhh how can’t you love these?!

Pick number one- Juicy Couture-Viva La Juicy” Noir”

Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy is one of my “signature scents” and I have gone through a couple of bottles. This version of the perfume in Noir is like the original but with a kick! This perfume is girly with an edge.  It smells bold but nothing heavy. I can smell the berries and honey suckle in it with a hint of sandalwood. It is the perfect mixture of sexy and feminine. The scent lasts all day long unlike the original version that fades on me very quickly. I enjoy the fruitiness of the perfume and feel the berry scent really stands out. The bottle is one of the cutest I have seen! The black and pink contrast is beautiful and the spray top gives out the perfect amount of product each time.  

When looking for this perfume it was sold out at many different retailers but not fragrancenet.com, plus they have different sizes! 1oz ,1.7oz and 3.4oz ranging from $35.99 to $64.99 but they constantly have sales and I saw right now you could pick this up for the largest size 3.4oz for only $48.74 with their coupon! Next up…. YSL “Black Opium”

I did a full review on this perfume awhile back, but let’s recap!  The actual scent of Black Opium is delicious! It smells very girly, sexy, seductive, and rich to me! It is a mixture of flowers, coffee, and vanilla all tied up in one. It’s soft yet strong enough to be noticed but not over-powering. While wearing this, I did get compliments and my husband loved it! He even asked while we were out that day “mmm, what is that your wearing, your new perfume?”  I know if he notices, then it is GOOD! This perfume reminded me of the perfume from back in the day that you could buy at the drugstore called, Exclamation…..does anyone remember that haha? That use to be one of my favorites!

My YSL Back Opium lasts for hours! Even after I wore it all day, the scent still stayed on my clothes!! I first got this in a sample size and it instantly became a favorite! This perfume even won an Allure Best of Beauty award! I can totally understand why, it is fun, flirty, and you smell good all day long! The bottle at first did not catch my eye, I even thought it was masculine but here I am putting it in my “Favorite Girly Perfumes” and that is because the more I look at it and see all of the beautiful sparkles in it and how the bottle catches the light just right, I can’t get over how gorgeous it is!

Of course I had to add in another Juicy Couture, I mean come on, this is my best girly perfumes and they have big, pretty bows and this one is pink and gold! My favorite color combination! Let’s start off with the bottle this time; Juicy Couture “Couture La La” has the signature pink bow on the cap with a gold emblem on the front of the bottle. On the back of the cap, it is draped in diamonds! It is stunning!

Whenever I think of my Juicy Couture “Couture La La” I think of being in Paris and saying “Ooh La La’ haha and that screams girly to me! This is another fun girly scent! It has a sweet aroma with a mixture of fruity and floral. You can even smell a hint of musk. This perfume is extremely long lasting and a little does go a long way. I feel this perfume is the best to wear out on a date night or when you want to be fancy.

Isn’t being a girl just so much fun!! We get to have such pretty makeup, clothes, shoes, nails and some of the best smelling fragrances and creams! A girl can never have enough! When Cynira from fragrancenet reached out to me I was so honored and excited to try some of their amazing products! Fragrancenet has a HUGE variety of products to choose from, it’s not just fragrances, they also have makeup, skincare, haircare, aromatherapy, and even candles! I was surprised at everything that they offer! Plus their prices are amazing and they always seem to be having some sort of sale! I could literally spend the entire day on their website looking at all of the goodies they have! I signed up with their emails and have already started getting coupons emailed to me! Cynira told me to choose a few products that I would like to review for you and she was nice enough to send me Clinique Happy, Betsey Johnson Too Too Pretty, Hanae Mori Butterfly and Estee Lauder Resilience Lift Night cream. Now on to the fun part, my review and thoughts.

Clinique Happy-

Clinique Happy has been one of my favorite perfumes since high school and the only product out of this haul I have ever owned or used. So, I already knew I would love it! It is a nice citrus scent with a hint of flowers in it. When I wear It I understand why It is called “Happy” because it literally makes me feel happy! The scent is super long lasting and I constantly get compliments when I am wearing it. This is Clinique’s Best Selling woman’s fragrance! This is a must have for any girl who loves a nice girly crisp scent. It is not over powering and a little goes a long way!

On fragrancenet they offer two different sizes at 1.7oz or their best value at 3.4oz. As I said, always look out for sales! The bottle is beautiful and looks lovely on your vanity; it is a simple clear bottle that looks very classy with “Clinique Happy” written on the top of the bottle with a Sliver cap. Betsey Johnson Too Too Pretty-

A little over a year ago I received a sample of this Betsey Johnson Too Too Pretty and instantly fell in love with this scent! I asked for it as an anniversary gift and ended up getting a different perfume by Betsey Johnson called just “Too Too” which smells amazing to but I always wanted Too Too Pretty! Having the sample, I never knew how adorable the actual full size bottle was and once you see it you will know exactly what I mean!!

….I mean isn’t it the cutest most girly beautiful bottle you have ever laid eyes on! It is literally a perfume bottle with a little Tutu! So cute and pink! I even love the lightning bolt details! The important question though??....Is the scent any good and the answer is YES! Like, I said I adored the scent before I even knew how stunning the bottle was! Betsey Johnson always has the cutest products so I didn’t expect anything less from her. It even comes in a cute display case!

This scent is totally girly and very vibrant. It is kind of a fruity floral scent with a hint of musk to it. According to the description on the perfume, it says it has” fresh waterlilies mixed with a hint of sparkling cassis and playful bursts of lemon blossom introduce the fragrance. Delicate floral undertones of osmanthus, pink grapefult flower, and gardenia mingle with whipped vanilla, lush blonde woods, and subtle musks, leaving an addictive lasting impression” its just a bunch of yummy goodness wrapped up in one of the cutest bottles ever! Again this perfume is long lasting. It comes on a bit strong when you first spray it on but does fade into a nice soft scent.

Betsey Johnson Too Too Pretty and Too Too 

Betsey Johnson Too Too Pretty is a must for any girly girl! This is available in a 1.7oz size and I see it online for under $17 dollar and even lower if you use their coupon! The link for this is-

Hanae Mori Butterfly-

Hanae Mori Butterfly is another perfume I received as a sample a couple of months ago and thought it smelled truly divine! It is a scent that I am not usually drawn to and is so unique. It is hard for me to even explain the scent, it is something you just need to smell once and you are hooked! What keeps me captivated about this fragrance is how it changes over time. When I first spray it, it comes off rich but within minutes it turns into this beautiful soft sweet scent. Hanae Mori Butterfly is the perfume that I have been grabbing every time I put a fragrance on. I just can’t get enough of all the different smells in one bottle. The best way to explain this is extremely feminine, light, and makes you feel fresh.  I will have to force myself to wear something other than this fragrance because of how beautiful the scent is. There is truly nothing else out there I could compare this to.

It is packaged in a beautiful sleek glass bottle with Hanae Mori gold writing across the top—ohh and fun fact, I found out the name Hanae Mori  means 'flower of the forest'! The cap looks like butterfly wings closed. The actual box the perfume comes in also has gorgeous butterflies on it in pale blue and gold.

If you love a soft, sweet smell, that just makes you feel pretty and feminine this would be something you would enjoy! This scent does fade throughout the day but it just smells prettier and prettier as it fades.

**Note- I did some research since it was so hard for me to explain this exquisite scent and found that it includes  bilberry, blackberries, blackcurrant buds, strawberry, jasmine, peony, rose, ylang-ylang, cedar wood, raspberry tree, rosewood, sandalwood, wood. MMM Yum! No wonder it was so hard for me to explain!**

Estee Lauder Resilience Lift Night=

Let’s face it getting older stinks! I am 32 and starting to notice little wrinkles here and there. My husband always makes fun of me saying he doesn’t see any and “what am I really going to do once I do get wrinkles” Well I still see them! My answer to him is-use lots of wrinkle and lifts creams and drink lots of water, oh and hope I have good genes!

Seriously though, skincare is a huge important step and something we all should focus on, regardless of your age, Having a fresh face helps you look youthful and feel and look beautiful. While looking through all of the different skin care fragrancenet offered. the Estée Lauder Resilience Lift Night Firming/Sculpting Crème really caught my eye! I trust Estee Lauder and have had nothing but positive experiences while using their other products of theirs in the past.

I wanted to try something out that would help with my neck area as well as the face. I like how this is said to be firming plus lifting and was excited to try it out! It is said to help give you more of a lifted look while your skin feeling firmer. I have been putting this on right before bed every night after my normal face routine. The formula is nice and thick and you can instantly feel it hydrating your face. Since it is for firming and lifting, I was expecting to feel some sort of tingle or even a slight burn.

There is absolutely none of that. It just feels so fresh and moisturizing. The Estee Lauder Resilience Lift Night makes my face and neck feel rejuvenated. The scent reminds me of a summer day’s breeze with a field of fresh flowers!

While reading up on my new face cream it said “92% of women showed a significantly more lifted look in just 4 weeks” I haven’t been using this for four weeks straight yet, but I do feel my skin does look healthier and has more of a glow to it. I will have to update this blog post once the time has passed!

As for the packaging, it comes in a light blue/teal box with gold lettering and the container is pink with a gold cap. It comes in a nice size jar where you are able to disperse the product out nice and evenly without a mess.

Copen26- Natural and organic bath and body products-Review

I have really never used any handmade bath and body products, so when the owner from Copen26 Mary, reached out to me to try some of their line I was really interested and intrigued! Their entire line is all about being chemical and paraben free. With this line it puts no toxins into your body and everything is completely natural and made with organic ingredients. These products do not include any type of dyes or fragrances! What really makes me drawn to this company is how every single product is handmade and packaged by them! You don’t find that often!

I was sent their bath salts, body polish, bar soap, toner, and lip balms. All of the packaging is white with black writing with light blue accents. The bottles are see through so you are able to see the contents inside each package. It is very crisp and clean looking. On each product it lists the ingredients and the directions on how to use them. Now let’s get into the fun part! My thoughts-

Relaxing Lavender Bath Salt –

Let’s start off with my absolute favorite product first, the Lavender bath salts! These smell amazing! To think no fragrances are added amazes me! It is all just pure fresh goodness and fills up the room with a beautiful lavender aroma! I am a busy mommy of two and really can’t tell you the last time I took a bath but Mary told me I could even use it to soak my feet in! That is exactly what I did last night, I pulled out my foot massage, filled it up with some warm water and added in a scoop full of the bath salts and just let me feet soak. The claim on these bath salts is that they “help to draw out impurities from your skin from every day free radicals in the air”. I am not sure if it really drew out impurities but it did leave my feet so smooth and soft feeling! My children even enjoyed using these bath salts. This retail for $12.50 for 8oz.

Orange Lavender Body Polish-

I really enjoy a good exfoliator since I self-tan and I like a clean canvas before I apply my next application so exfoliators are something I always grab. Plus it just really helps to make your skin feel softer and appear smoother. This Orange Lavender Body Polish smells so yummy; you can smell both the orange and lavender in it. A wonderful, fresh, strong scent! Everything from Copen26 reminds me of the way products from Aveda smell. I used this in my shower and it is a great exfoliator I can feel it working right away. It left my skin feeling fresh and so soft! It is a thinner, finer exfoliator, with no big chunks. This is not harsh and did not hurt my skin.  On the bottle it says it can make a slippery surface, so I just made sure after my shower I wiped down my tub with a towel. You can pick this up for $18.00 for 4oz.

Orange Lavender Bar Soap-

I do not ever use bar soap. I wash my body and hands with liquid soap so using this was kind of fun and different! Once again, I love the scent!  This soap has great foam action and really made me feel like I was left super clean. It did not leave my skin dry feeling like I have experienced with other bar soaps. My husband who uses bar soap daily seems to like it!  The bar of soap has ridges on it and also has an earthy side to it is how I would explain it. It is like chunks of natural earthy goodness. I am impressed with this bar soap and now have it sitting on my sink! This is only $5.00!

Natural Tea-Tree Toner

This is the only product I didn’t enjoy for myself. I used the toner now twice so I can make an honest review of it. First, I did not like the smell of this at all. It smells musky to me but I can’t pinpoint it. It kind of reminds me of water I smelled once when I went camping. When I put it on my face the first time I did not shake it, nowhere in the directions did it state it had to be but after talking to my friend Brenda she told me it was supposed to be shaken. I applied it to my face like I normally would with a toner and right away my face started to itch, tingle, and turned really red in my t-zone and all over my cheeks. This product is alcohol free so it did alarm me. I jumped right in the shower! I let water run all over my face. Even after a couple hours after my shower, my face was still pink in certain areas. I used it again but lightly and only in one area of my cheek and the same thing happened.  I must have had an allergic reaction to this, and my skin has been very sensitive lately as well. I have even had to return makeup because my skin has had reactions to it.

I would not say this product is bad; I just personally cannot use it. Every product works differently on each person. I had my daughter and husband try this and they both liked it. The smell did not bother my husband and neither of them had any type of reaction! So, it is not the product, it is just my skin.

I read this off their website at www.copen26.com and find this interesting so I had to share “Our Toner is great for clearing up acne, but it also has many other uses including cleaning minor cuts, soothing bug bites, and healing bruises! Just soak a cotton ball and place on these areas to soothe and treat the natural way” I will be trying this if my kiddos get any boo-boos or bug bites! This retails for $14.00 for 6oz.

Citrus Lip Balm-

Lastly I was able to try the Citrus Lip Balm and it smells just like orange juice! It is a great moisturizing lip balm; it’s the same size and works the same as a chapstick tube. The lip balm is all organic. It contains beeswax and just leaves your lips feeling so smooth. When I am wearing it I just keep wanting to smell my lips. This is $4.50 a tube

Overall, I have enjoyed trying out all of the products from Copen26. I can tell everything is made of high quality ingredients and I like how everything is natural.
