Colourpop Haul- Blush. Highlight, Lippie Stix and Eyeshadow-review and swatches

Colourpop Haul from my IG @adrienneroyale

I have finally taken the plunge after months of seeing Colourpop EVERYWHERE and placed my first order! Colourpop just celebrated their 1st Birthday and with any order you get a free birthday gift of a limited edition eyeshadow in the color Birthday Girl. I saw so many sneak peak swatches of this eyeshadow color and feel instantly in love! The combination of the golden metallic sparkly shade and hot pink packaging had me at midnight placing my first ever Colourpop order! Mind you everyone else was trying to get their order in to get their hands on this beautiful Birthday Girl shadow, so the Colourpop site keep crashing but that didn’t stop me!

Colourpop is all over social media, especially Instagram and their eyeshadow, blush, highlight, and new bronzer formula has always had me wanting to try it! Colourpop sells eyeshadows, blush, highlight, bronzer, and Lippie Stix all at very affordable prices. Their blush, highlight, and bronzers are $8 and the Lippie Stix and eyeshadow are $5. They also sell sets that can run you around $20 but you get 4 of their full size items. Awesome prices! The color selection is so beautiful and I found myself quickly filling up my cart and having my total over $200! They have different finishes in each category for example they have metallic, pearlized, and matte eyeshadows and satin and matte lipsticks as well as other finishes. You have tons to choose from!  I decided that my first order should just be me trying everything out and if I ended up liking the products ordering more.

I ordered 3 eyeshadows in the colors Eye Candy, Girly, and the free limited edition shadow in Birthday girl. A blush in the color Thumper, a highlight in Wisp, and four Lippie Stix in Wifey, Gossip, Pepper, and Pony. I was so excited to get my order! I heard Colourpop could take a long time to ship, so I just enjoyed my holiday weekend and tried not to think about my order. To my surprise my order was here Tuesday afternoon. I placed my order May 20th, my order shipped out on May 22nd and at my door step May 26th. This was great shipping especially with the long holiday weekend with no mail service on Monday. I would also like to mention that shipping is automatically free when you spend over $35! Another great perk! So, as you can tell I was SO HAPPY!

My husband came home and had in his hand my Colourpop order and I ripped open the box, and I was devastated! Two of my eyeshadows were all broken, dried up looking, and gross! I was disgusted!  I must admit, I was pretty bitter. I was thinking how can something be so broken and look old, when one of the shadows is a brand new shade? I quickly emailed and sent pictures to customer service to let them know the issue. I also posted on my Instagram and many girls told me they had the same issue with receiving broken eyeshadows. I was so upset! Then people started telling me that Colourpop customer service was great and not to worry and I started to feel at ease. Within two hours Colourpops customer service emailed me back to let me know they would replace my broken eyeshadows and I had so much relief!

Broken eyeshadows in Brithday Girl and Eye Candy

After that whole experience I honestly wasn’t expecting much from the products and was still a little bit sour and bitter. Not a great first impression and I was wondering if the actual products would be cheaply made and I would be disappointed. I started looking threw my order and everything was just so stunning. The colors are so vibrant and pretty so I decided to start to play with the makeup and all I can say is ohhhh miii goodness! Let’s get onto my review!

Blush and Highlight-

The formula is like nothing I have ever felt before, it almost feels moist, kind of wet, and smushy.  Then to my surprise the blush and highlight dried to a powder finish. The pigmentation in both products is amazing! They blend flawlessly and you can build up the color.
Blush-Thumper Highlight-Wisp

The blush I chose in Thumper is a beautiful matte mid-tone pink that leaves you looking perfectly flush. The Highlight in Wisp may be the most beautiful highlight I own right now; it catches the light in the most magical way. The color comes off a bit bronzed and will be gorgeous for summer. Wisp is a pearlized formula and leaves a nice shimmer. I feel Wisp could also be worn as an eyeshadow.  Both of these I applied with my fingers. When I tried to use a brush it didn’t blend as well and looked a bit chunky. I have never applied blush with my fingers before but it worked nicely with these products.  I just ran a brush over my cheeks to blend everything into my skin.

Eyeshadows-

The eyeshadows are the same formula as the blush and highlight. They feel very smooth and look beautiful on the eyelid. I also had to apply the eyeshadows with my finger and lightly blend them with a clean brush. Even though Birthday Girl and Eye Candy were broken, I added a little water to the shadows and mushed them into place and they worked well. Eye Candy is a lilac purple pink color and has a small amount of shimmer, Birthday Girl is a golden bronzy color and also has some shimmer in it; both of these shadows are metallic. The last eyeshadow I got is Girly and this is a pearly off white shade, in a pearlized formula. This eyeshadow looks great right under the brow bone! All of these eyeshadows are so pretty! The formula will take some getting used to and I will need to still use other shadows to create a look, but these are perfect for adding a pop of color or shimmer!

Lippie Stix-

First off, just name of these are so cute! Lippie Stix! To cute! These are what made me love Colourpop and totally forget about the broken eyeshadows! These are GORGEOUS! Ohh mii goodness! I am in love with the color Wifey! Actually all of these colors are stunning! Besides being so pretty, they are long lasting! I have worn Wifey and Pony and only tried on Pepper and Gossip. I can speak for Wifey and Pony and say they lasted hours. I even drank and ate a grapefruit and Wifey didn’t budge! I am impressed! On top of the colors being gorgeous these Lippie Stix smell delicious!  Wifey and Pepper are a matte formula and neither are drying and leave my lips feeling gross. Gossip and Pony are a satin formula and a little more moisturizing.  I have not experienced any kind of fading or creasing while wearing these. So far I am really enjoying these Lippie Stix!

Overall I am happy with my Colourpop haul and can see myself ordering from them in the future for at least the Lippie Stix. While I enjoy the other items, the formula is just going to take some getting used to for me. I prefer to work with brushes and need to experiment more to see what brushes may work better with these products. I think they are fun to play with and defiantly something new! The packaging is cute and I really love the box and little personalized letter that comes with your order.

What I don’t love is the packaging with the eyeshadows and how they come shipped. I don’t like how the eyeshadows came broken and if you don’t have the cap on super tight I can see the product drying up extremely fast. I also feel that while the prices are extremely affordable you are getting less product then you would from other companies. The Lippie Stix is 1G of lipstick for $5 while a Mac lipstick is 3G for $16. So in reality yes you’re paying less but you are also getting way less product! If you bought 3G of product like Mac sells in a single lipstick you would still be paying $15 and only saving a whopping dollar. The eyeshadows don’t have much product at all either, as you can see when I received the broken eyeshadows you could see the pan, it is only a very thin layer of product and I am sure I will hit pan with in a month or two, maybe even sooner depending on how often I use the products!  To me it almost feels like I am buying glorified sample sizes made to look full size! Not a huge deal considering how affordable everything is but at the same time don’t be fooled that you are getting the best deal out there! Getting a drugstore brand like Milani, Nyx or Maybelline you will get more “bang for your buck”

All in all, Colourpop is fun and Social media has helped with the hype of these products! The range of colors they have is out of this world, the pigmentation and how long wearing makes these products worth buying!

Have you ordered from Colourpop? What are your thoughts on their products? What is your favorite item from Colourpop? I would love to hear from you!

The Body Needs- Lip Luster, eyeshadow and blush-Review and swatches

I absolutely love trying out new makeup companies, so when Grant from The Body Needs contacted me about trying some of their products I was so excited and eager to try everything!  If you haven’t heard about The Body Needs, it is a wife and husband company of all handmade, cruelty free, and many vegan makeup products! Cheryl designs and actually makes all of TBN products, while Grant does all of the marketing, packing, and shipping. Some other little fun facts about this company besides everything being handmade, their packaging is also 100% recyclable! I love companies who care about our Earth and do not do any animal testing! Another remarkable thing about The Body Needs is that everything that they sell is affordable and high quality! They even say that their “goal is to make high quality eyeshadows, blushes, and lip lusters at reasonable prices”. Besides The Body Needs making their own affordable eyeshadows, blushes, and lip lusters they also sell samples of Mac. This is a neat concept since Mac is high-end and not everyone can afford to buy a $16 tube of lipstick at one time or worried about buying a color they do not like. These samples give you the chance to be able to try it out before you want to commit to buying a full size!

I was told to choose three eyeshadows, two lip lusters, and one blush so I could test out the products and see for myself how I liked them! When I first went onto their website I was impressed on how easy it is to navigate and their wide range of color selections on each category. Something that also popped out to me about the TBN products is how cute the names are! Their prices are great you can pick up an eyeshadow either mineral or crushed pots or blush for under $4! You can get a lip luster for under $3! AHHHHMAZING! After looking threw all of the TBN products I finally made my choices (which mind you were hard to pick because everything is so beautiful)!  For the eyeshadows I choose, two lose mineral eyeshadows in the colors Butterfly and Cherry Blossom, a crushed pot shadow in the shade Dragonfly, the blush I chose in Playing Hooky, and the two lip lustes in Tokyo Pink (a dupe for Mac Saint Germaine) and Girl Power! After letting Grant know what I picked out, he let me know it was on its way, I want to point out that the shipping was super-fast! It just took a couple of days to get to me!

After getting my package last week from The Body Needs and opening it, it really reminded me of Bare Minerals for the eyeshadow and blush and the lip lusters reminded me of those lip balms I use to use in middle school called Soft Lips. Then I saw that they also threw in a Mac sample lipstick in the shade Neon Orange! I thought that was so sweet and thoughtful! I wanted to take a full week and use all of the TBN products before I wrote my review and shared it with you so I could really tell you my thoughts and feeling and not just a “First impression” so let’s get into it!

Let’s start off with TBN Lip lusters (their lipstick) since my favorite makeup is lipstick and the most fun for me to play with. I chose Tokyo Pink which is a stunning baby pink and Girl Power which is a bright but wearable pink.
Bottom swatch is Tokyo Pink and top swatch is Girl Power

**Down below you will see swatches and I also did a comparison swatch of TBN Tokyo Pink and Mac Saint Germaine, which I find to be a very close dupe** All swatches are unedited, no flash and in sunlight**

First, I want to start off about the packaging of the Lip lusters- it’s cute and I have to remember that everything is made out of 100% recyclable material.  I like how they put the name of the lip luster large on the tube with cute little hearts. What I don’t like is how they get messy so quickly, I’m not sure why it is happening but the cap on the packaging catches the color and it can get a bit messy. Nothing horrible but just something I noticed. Both of the Lip lusters smell really good, they have kind of a fruity lip-gloss sent; I personally love it and smell so good you would want to eat it.  For people that don’t like their lip products to have a strong scent this may be a turn off.  Both of the colors are pigmented and very moisturizing and glossy. I did have to swipe and layer about 4-5 times to achieve the color payoff that I wanted. There is 4g of product in each tube. You have to twist the bottom of the tube for the product to come out. It doesn’t remind me of a lipstick at all with the packaging.  The packaging reminds me of a lip balm, but you put it on it’s like a glossy lipstick. It feels so nice on your lips! I usually put a gloss over my lipstick but with this I did not have to. The Lip lusters lasted about 2-4 hours. I did have to reapply the Tokyo Pink more often than the Girl Power. These do come off if you eat or drink something, but they don’t claim to be long wearing.  Tokyo  Pink if my favorite one out of the two and is very similar to Mac Saint Germaine, which if you follow me on Instagram, you know that is my favorite Mac lipstick! Overall, I am impressed with how these feel on my lips and the color pay off!
Comparison swatch of Tokyo Pink (bottom) Mac Saint Germaine (top)

I love mineral eyeshadow! If you look in my makeup collection you will see at least 75 different mineral eyeshadows! If I’m not buying a palette and I’m buying a single eyeshadow it would usually be a mineral eyeshadow so when I saw that TBN had those to offer I was so ecstatic! I got two mineral eyeshadows in the color Butterfly which is a beautiful pink with just a little bit of shimmer and Cherry Blossom which is a light baby pink. I have to say I am so impressed with these TBN mineral eyeshadows! They are so pigmented and last all day long! I have been using Cherry Blossom daily as a blending color and right under my eyebrow. With Butterfly it is such a fun pop of color! I have nothing bad to say about either of these eyeshadows. I truly love them! Their packaging is just like Bare Minerals and you are able to choose how many grams of product you want to purchase. The containers are completely clear so you are able to see the shade and there is a cute heart design on the top of the container. The bottom has the name of the eyeshadow. When you first get the eyeshadows it does have a cute sticker seal with their cute heart design.

Swatch of Butterfly, dry(left)  and wet (right)

I also got a Crush Pot eyeshadow in the color Dragon fly, this is like a normal single eyeshadow and you can even pop it into something like a Z pallet and make your own custom eyeshadow pallete. It comes on a package where you can flip it open and take the eyeshadow right out and transfer it into a pallete or just keep it in its container. Again, it has the cute heart design on the top of the package and the name on the bottom of the package. Dragonfly is a beautiful pale teal blue with a tiny bit of shimmer. With these Crush Pots you can also chose how many grams you want to purchase and that will depend on the price you pay. This shadow did come off a bit pale and I had to build it up. I used this a lot under my lower lash line and it looks gorgeous! My husband even loved it!  You will definitely want to use a primer with these eyeshadows. I tried it with a NYX jumbo pencil in milk for a more affordable option and Mac Paint Pot also worked well to.
Swatch of Dragonfly

Now on to the blush and let me say this was my favorite!!  I got the blush in the color Playing Hooky (see, how cute these names are!!) this blush is so beyond beautiful and EXTREMLY pigmented. I am not exaggerating when I say this and a little goes a long way!! TBN blush in Playing Hooky does remind me a little of their mineral eyeshadow I got in Butterfly, when you swatch it but on your cheeks it comes off totally different.  The first day I wore the blush I put way too much on and I will admit I looked like a clown (HAHA) but it blended wonderfully and I was able to tone it down. Since the first day of trying it, I now know I only need a little. The blush is my favorite out of everything The Body Needs sent me. It is long wearing (about 8 hours) and there is just enough shimmer and the pigmentation is like no other! The packaging is just like the mineral eyeshadow just in a larger container.

Swatch of Playing Hooky (dry left, wet right)
Comparison swatch of TBN blush in Playing Hooky (bottom) and eyeshadow in Butterfly (top)

The Mac lipstick sample comes packaged just like the Crush Pot eyeshadow, which is nice so again you can put it right into your own customer palette! I love this idea about the Mac sample, how many times have you bought a full tube of lipstick and been disappointed in the shade but know you’re not going to return it? I’m not sure about you but I know for myself TONS, uncountable times! This concept of getting a sample (which may I add you get a lot of product!) is such a great idea, you get to try it out before you go ahead and splurge and get the full tube. Or, maybe you just want a color for a date night or special event, this is perfect!

Overall I have to say I am highly impressed with The Body Needs. In every aspect from their customer service, website, shipping, and products! I don’t know what I was really expecting since I never heard of The Body Needs but now it is a company that I can see myself buying from in the future! I just want to thank them for allowing me to be able to review and share their products with you! They were even kind enough to send me a 20% off with the promo code SP20! Their website is  www.TheBodyNeeds2.com  and check out their Instagram @thebodyneeds

My favorites from The Body Needs! Lip lusters and blush

Have any of you tried The Body Needs? If so what have you picked up? If you get anything let me know and share your thoughts and experience!! Thanks for reading!!

Wet N’ Wild Blush and Glow Trio- Fair Trade Coffee, Sunset Junction and Solar Powered- Review and swatches

Makeup mess of the Wet N' Wild Blush and Glow Trios from my Instagram @adrienneroyale

With summer right around the corner and the warmer weather finally here who does not want to look like a bronzed beautiful goddess? I know I do!  When I saw and heard about the new a limited edition Wet N’Wild Blush and Glow Trio I knew it was something that I had to pick up for the spring and summer! Wet N’ Wild makes three different trio pallets and I finally have all of them! Special thank you to my husband and daughter for my Mother's Day gift!

My local Walgreens has each of the trios for $3.99. Their names are Fair Trade Coffee, Sunset Junction and Solar Powered. They all come complete with a bronzer, blush and highlight. You can't go wrong for the price point up under four dollars! My favorite one out of the three is Fair Trade Coffee.

*Down below you will see swatches of all the trios. All Pictures of the trios and swatches are unedited*

Fair Trade coffee reminds me of the Urban Decay Naked Flushed Pallet but better. Fair Trade Coffee comes with a nice matte warm brown bronzer, a bright baby pink bubblegum blush, and an iridescent pink champagne colored highlight.

Sunset Junction also comes with a beautiful warm matter bronzer, this one is a bit deeper than the Fair Trade Coffee, and the blush is a pinky-rose-peach color and the highlight it's almost identical to the one in fair trade coffee but just has a little bit more of a peach tone.

With Solar Powered, just looking at it and swatching it, I didn’t think I’d like it, but once I actually wore it I was amazed at how natural looking it was! Solar powdered has two shades that look like they could be a bronzer and both come off very Coopery. I am unable to tell which is supposed to be the highlight and which should be the bronzer. For me neither would work as a highlight. One of the shades has shimmer while the other is matte. The shade with the shimmer is deeper and darker and comes off as a very strong copper color. The matte shade is a bit less coppery and a little lighter, and I feel more workable. Both shades are strongly pigmented. The blush in Solar Powered is deep coral pink. I think this trio wound be great on all skin tones especially darker and tanned skin. None of the colors in Solar Powdered would work as a highlight for me. I personally used the matte shade as a light bronzer and you can pop the shimmery shade as an eyeshadow.

All of the bronzers in the Wet N’ Wild trios are a tiny bit too warm for me without a tan. When I self-tanned and used the bronzers they worked beautifully!  It's nothing that I can contour with, but it works perfectly as a light bronzer. It makes you look sun kissed in all the right places. The blush and the highlight in the Fair Trade Coffee and Sunset Junction are absolutely gorgeous!

The formula of these products, have no smell and they go on to your skin effortlessly. They are a bit powdery and have some fall out, but nothing that you can't work with. All of the colors in the trios are buildable and they do blend very nicely.  You have to watch how much you blend though, because I have noticed they can blend away and you end up having to use more products. None of the bronzers look muddy or overly orange. While the blushes can look bright and intimating in the pan, once on your cheeks they come off much lighter and natural. This is why I love how buildable the colors are! The highlights are just enough shimmer and nothing glittery (with the exception of the Solar Powered) since none of the shades worked for me as a highlight.  One of the downfalls with each of the trios is that they are not extremely long lasting.  I had to reapply the blush and the highlight at least every four hours. Honestly though, for $3.99 it's a steal. The colors are all so pigmented and all of the shades in each trio complement each other.

As I mentioned earlier Fair Trade Coffee and Sunset Junction are very close to the Urban Decay Naked Flushed Pallets.  I have to say I actually prefer these Wet N’ Wild ones over the Naked Flushed and for the price range of $32 for Urban Decay and only $3.99 for Wet N’ Wild, I would say these are a must product for summer! Have you had a chance to pick up these beauties what are your thoughts on them? Which one is your favorite?

Thanks for reading!

Rimmel London Lash Accelerator- Day 4 Mini Review Series of Drugstore Mascara

Welcome back! Today is my last day of my mini review series on drugstore mascara's. I really hope everyone enjoyed these mini reviews! If their is anything you ever want me to review just leave it in the comments and I will try my best to. Thank you for reading! Now let's get started!

Picture of some of my favorite mascara on my Instagram at @adrienneroyale featuring Rimmel London Lash Accelerator

Rimmel London Lash Accelerator

Saved the best for Last! My favorite drugstore mascara out of this series of mini reviews is Rimmel London Lash Accelerator! I first saw this mascara while watching YouTube years ago with Nicole Guerriero, she and I have very similar taste in makeup. Whenever she raves about a product, I know I need to try it out. She has loved this mascara for years now, so I finally decided to try Lash Accelerator. I have been using Lash Accelerator for the last six months and it has been my holy grail mascara! I love Lash Accelerator more than any of my high-end mascara!  I do want to point out as I mentioned earlier that I do layer my mascara, so I never actually wear this one completely alone.  For drugstore mascara this can be quite pricey.  I think I paid around $10 at Ulta for it. I have checked around though and sometimes you can find it on sale for around $8. The packaging i sleek black with a neon yellow/green top with the same color accent writing. On the bottle it claims to be "Advanced, ultra-lengthening formula for beautifully long remarkable strong lashes. " This claim is 100% true! Every day I start my mascara routine off with the Lash Accelerator and my eyelashes look so long they almost look like I have fake eyelashes on. This mascara is perfect for length but not so much for thickening. This is why I have to layer it with thickening mascara. Once I have a thickening mascara on with that Lash Accelerator my eyelashes look like they could be falsies! I have even been asked if I had falsies on because my lashes looked so long! The formula of this is not flaky, does not smudge, and it wears for the entire day. I love how the brush is long and very thin. You are able to get into every single part of your lashes and not miss anything. You can buy this at Ulta, local drugstores, or mass retailers like Walmart or Target. If I had to recommend one mascara, it would be this one. I rate Lash Accelerator 10/10!

What is your favorite mascara? Drugstore or high-end?  I would love to hear from you and always excited about trying new products!
